How Much Water Does Your Family Really Need Each Week?

When you sign up for home water delivery, one of the first questions you’ll ask is:

“How many bottles should we start with?”

At Alpine Fresh USA, we want to make it easy. Whether you’re just getting started with purified or alkaline water delivery—or you’ve been over-ordering for months—we’ll help you figure out exactly what your household needs.

A Good Rule of Thumb

On average, a person should drink about half their body weight in ounces of water per day. For a family of four, that usually works out to about 3 to 5 gallons per person per week, depending on:

  • Age and activity level
  • Weather (hotter months = more hydration)
  • How much water is used for cooking, coffee, pets, etc.

So if you’re a family of four, you’re likely going through 12 to 20 gallons per week just for drinking and basic use.

Bottle Size Breakdown

We deliver in 3-gallon and 5-gallon bottles, so here’s how that looks:

  • Light usage: 2–3 bottles per week
  • Moderate usage: 3–5 bottles per week
  • Heavy usage or large families: 6+ bottles per week

Still unsure? No problem—start small. You can always adjust your delivery as you go.

Other Factors to Consider

  • Kids at home during the day? You’ll need more.
  • Big coffee or tea drinkers? Water usage adds up fast.
  • Cooking with water (soups, rice, etc.)? That counts too.
  • Pets? Don’t forget their hydration!

We even have families who use our water for plants—because good water isn’t just for people.
